my tekken life :D

it all started when i was in 2nd year high school.

before i was into tekken, i was into another fighting game called Soul Calibur 2. i was addicted to that game because all of my closest circle of friends were playing that one. although i played together with them, i was nevertheless the underdog of the group. we were the ones who always played on that machine. but everything changed when i was bumped in the back while playing SC2. i wheeled around to find the person, but he was apparently busy playing another game.

and that game was tekken 5.

it was like my life was paused. i offered my sc2 game to my friend, which he happily agreed to play, and watched tekken.

tekken...

that name was familiar.. yes, tekken. i remember now. i played that game a very long time ago. it was then called tekken tag. a very old game indeed. so i took out my token and began to play. when my hand touched the controls, it was like having a new life.

and i knew that that game changed my life forever...

i choosed my favorite character, which was law, and started to play. last time i remember, i played in ps2 and used a technique very familiar to most players. that classic technique is called BUTTON SMASHING. a very easy to learn technique and very easy to accomplish. next thing i knew, i lost.

well, no surprises there. i played for years.

and so i took out another token and played again. this time, i wanted to choose eddy.. my 2nd favorite character. but then he wasnt there. so i choosed a character who is VERY unfamiliar to me.

her name was christie.

she had the same fighting style as eddy. which was called capoeira, a fighting style that looks like dancing. so i started playing again and i lost again. after that, i vowed that i would learn how to play tekken.

when i went home, i researched everything about tekken and combos. i was introduced with a concept of the game called JUGGLING.

juggling is the act where you put your opponent in the air and hammer your way through.

lol. so i was amazed about it. i started to learn how to block, which was ridiculously easy, and learned my very first juggle combo.

df+3+4, 1,2,4~4

the combo was very noob friendly but has a very small damage. but it was a good start. i paved my road to tekken supremacy. i kept coming back to the internet to feed my craving for tekken knowledge. and at just about 5 months playing the game, i became relatively good.

soon, my friends started playing the game. naturally, i was better than them. and so they kept asking me to teach them.

and then it HIT me. why not learn ALL the character's? it would really help me. but before i finally decided to learn other characters, i reached my gaming career playing christie.

it was in fun time, everyone kept challenging me and i kept on winning. there were really close fights but i always manage to scrape a close win. i noticed that i had been playing for a very long time and when i checked my wins, i was shocked.

i had 20 wins with only 1 token. how cool is that?

i was very ecstatic to know what i just did, and what i just accomplished. i told my friends and they were also happy. and soon the word had spread.

there were a lot of people gathering around the tekken machine, craning their necks just to see for themselves the wonder i made. they kept watching and i grew nervous. i was afraid i would fail while they were watching me.

and so i did.

i was defeated by a really good person. the final score was 3-1.. it was not a dissapointment though, for i had reached 25 wins and gained 2nd place. i tied 1st place with 25 wins but i was only the second person to achieve 25 wins. 1 more win and i would become 1st in that gaming machine.

after that, i gained power, fame and bragging rights. although i knew that the time has come when i had to learn other characters.

it took me about a month learning how to play half of the characters. but when i got my psp, i polished my skills and learned all of the characters in less than a month. and after more than a year of playing the game which i loved the most, i have become what i am today, what i had dreamed not more than a year ago. although i have become a considerably good player, i have still much to learn.

and now whenever i play, i would always be watched by my "fans". either they had been fans for a long time, or they had been a fan for only 5 minutes, it doesnt matter. i grew confidence and kept winning battle after battle.

the best thing of having fans is that you alaways get free tokens. hahaha. and you are beig cheered on. i love my fans. i love tekken. i will always play tekken. :D
