the effect of swine flu on our daily lives

swine flu, or infleunza A(H1N1) (but i would very much like to refer it as swine flu), is drastically taking its toll on the community. no, its not the viral disease itself, but the perks that come with it.

as you all know, swine flu is the new kid on the block. the new black. the latest pandemic to hit the streets. sadly, or should i say... regrettably fortunate, it is just a mild case of the flu. hell, even dengue is more dangerous than swine flu.

take my word for it guys for i had first-hand experience of the virus. although my case was a little severe, it was because it triggered my sinusitis. which means that i had a hell of a headache. so, officially, i was diagnosed with acute sinusitis.

notice anything WRONG? if your smart enough, you can notice that they did not mention a thing about swine flu in my diagnosis even though i had exhibited its symptoms.

why??

to create less panic and chaos. if the medical world will NOT confirm the existence of the virus in me, then countless people can sleep better knowing that the dreaded virus hasnt infected a wonderful guy like moi.

notice that i used the word DREADED, and not DREADFUL, to describe the swine flu. well ladies and gentlemen, i am going to another part which will lead to another and will eventually lead us back to the main topic. :D

people dread the virus because of two things.
  1. basically, they dont want to get sick
  2. they have been brain-washed by the authorities thinking that its a deadly disease.

yes, need i explain? well... yes, i have to...

firstly, people dont want to get sick. its such a hassle. people hate being behind on the studies, miss work, etc.

2nd, almost all of us had orientations about swine flu, right? they say that its just a mild case of flu yet they had a lot more going on.

finally, onto my topic. now, because of that, classes have been suspended and so has our laag pursuits. why oh why?? do you realize how boring that is to us?? it was okay, no... AWESOME that you guys suspended class. but including our laag pursuits? that is miscarriage of justice! its like commiting murder! how could you do that? smiling their in front.. talking about social responsibility.

hell, i dont care if i infected a lot of people. our prefect also said that part of the social responsibility, is that we, the students of Xavier, are responsible in keeping the disease under control.

why us? isnt that DOH's responsibility? arent we the victims here? why the hell are we trying to act like heroes?

stuff you might wanna know about tekken :D

ahhh yess. i always wanted to make a lot more posts about this game. hahahaha. this guide is really about how I decipher and fathom it. it is from my own understanding and i have NO guarantee that this will make you the best player in the world. :D

tekken..

tekken is a game created by namco. the concept of this game is really simple, actually. it's basically the same with other fighting games; beat the hell outta each other. but what makes this game unique is it's fighting concept called an aerial combo or more commonly known as a juggle.

what is juggling?

juggling is the term used by tekken players illustrating their combos. it is the act of launching your opponent, or your opponents character, in the air and pummeling him with all sorts of punches, kicks and whatever thing that inflicts damage. here's the catch: you must do this WHILE he is still floating in the air and you must NOT let him fall to the ground before your combo is done. seems easy enough, right? WRONG. hahaha

style or damage?

the debate is on and tensions rise on each side. which one is dominant? the style of the combo or the damage of the combo? i prefer to choose both. but before that...

style.

having jaw-droppin combos dont necessarily mean that its kickass. but the audience rapport is truly irresistible. we tend to forget the damage and start focusing on the style of the combo. how the combo looks like.

damage

this is for aggressive people who are more brawn than everything else. lol. they do whatever it takes to inflict the most damage to the opponent.

my own verdict.

well, it usually depends on the damage difference.. if the damage difference isnt that big or not quite noticeable, i really would go for style. but if the damage is WAAAAAY BIG. then say hello to the world of hurt. :D

well, there are a lot of people who play tekken. and a lot of people who dont know how to play this game. some say that you punch and you kick, that's it. so how do we sort out the noobs from the pros?

button-smashers

they dont know how to play AT ALL. from the word itself, the players mash away at the button until one of them dies or until they mash their fingers to bits. the Character of choice is christie or eddy. but now its lili. be warned though, button smashers are extremely unpredictable and i have seen pros get beaten by them.. how embarrassing :D

semi button-smashers

they are just the same crowd but a little wiser. they now know how to block and would only sometimes attack when near. they know a little but still uncertain. for example, marduk's 1+2, they know that they must press the two punches at the same time but they are going to do that for 3 times, like mash 'em like hell. lol. still unpredictable. choice of characters, any. now that these persons know a little bit of tekken, they tend to choose a more variety of characters.

grab-abusers

ahhhh, yes. my worst type of gamer. they are the ones with prodigious knowledge and skill about grabbing. grab is a cheap move and grabbers are soooo cheap and so gay. although i had my fair share of grabbing experiences. lets just say, they are afraid to get up again.. :D again, semi unpredictable. learn to counter grabs. characters of choice, king, armor king, marduk, characters with a long reach. how to defeat: be aggressive, answer grabs with grabs.

novices

these are guys who have made up their mind and take up tekken seriously. this is the most crucial part of the tekken stage because they begin to develop their love of the game. usually the time when players pick at last their character of choice. this is a trial and error period. only few can actually surpass this stage. they try to learn as many stuff about their characters as hard as they can. usually, they know atleast one combo and they have tried hard to master it. usually very predictable, they are sadly misinformed into thinking tekken is nothing but juggles. how to counter: try reading their pattern and use your own plan from there.

intermediate

these guys know a lot about tekken. they know at least half of the characters but are sometimes predictable. they can easily pick up patterns and use it to their deadly disposal. they have cool juggles but need a little bit more practice. they don't try new stiff with their characters. they try new ways to execute old moves. it takes time, practice and patience to get to this level. how to counter: be equally good or better! :D

expert

these guys are the best of the best, the legends. they are like, you know, chairman of the board. they know everything there is to tekken. EVERYTHING! they can do stuff in tekken we could only dream of! they can make every character so deadly that you would be awed just to be with the same breathing air with them. lol. they are unlikely to be predictable. they think 2 moves ahead of their opponent but juggles less often. truly a player to be praised. OH MY LABOR! :D

now, the following are a few reminders on tekken. they are a NEED-TO-KNOW, HIGHLY-CLASSIFIED... uhm,. "stuff."

  • there is such a thing in tekken as sidestep. you can do this by simply TAPPING the up or down joystick. be careful though.. if you are heavy with your hands, the character will JUMP instead of SIDESTEPPING. now, sidestepping is important because you can do moves off it and you can actually evade your opponent. for example, your opponent is starting a 10-hit string from a distance and he's coming off towards you. a couple of sidesteps and you will be in his left, or right. there is a faster way of sidestepping though. this must be done really fast. it's called sidestep fake backdash something. no, i did not make that up. but yes, i forgot the name. :D it is done by sidestep then back dash. so its like this, you tap up, so that your character will sidestep. then quickly double TAP. TAP. TAP, not double then hold. i haven't quite got it yet. :D
  • there is such a thing as backdash. backdash is the art of moving back quickly. it is done by TAPPING the back joystick 2 times. this is done so that when your opponent tries to hit you, he misses and you have a very clear shot for a juggle. be warn though,. this is not always the case. there are times that even after a backdash, the opponent can still reach you. but its completely safe.
  • forward dash. forward dash is the ancient art of lunging forward. if u need a couple of steps in order to land your attack, then the forward dash is a very useful tool. it can be done by double TAPPING the forward joystick. what is the difference of DOUBLE TAP and DOUBLE TAP THEN HOLD? well, it probably the same thing. but you can get moves from double forward. but you can only get the ordinary move in forward dash. okay? secondly, forward dash is safer because you can hold back after the dash.
  • there is such a thing called 'while-rising'. it is executed while your character is rising from a crouch OR he just landed from a jump. for example, jin's rising uppercut. first, hold the joystick down so that jin will crouch. then release the joystick so that it will return to neutral and simultaneously press RP or 2. this will execute jin's rising uppercut. another way to execute this is by holding the joystick upward and when the character will land, the joystick must be in neutral and then simultaneously press RP or 2.
  • chicken buffer and fakes. this is very tricky. chicken buffer means finishing and/or prolonging the animation. for example, kazuya's wind god fist, which is done by f,n,df. simultaneously press 2 when reaching the df part. it will be fast. but in buffering, the player waits a little longer before pressing 2. therefore, finishing the animation. chicken buffer is used for boggling the opponents mind. fakes are used only by a few character and only a handful of people can execute this is quick succesion. baek, lei, hwoarang and christie/eddy is are famous for this. they have moves that can be continued and executed into another move. i cant explain how it looks like but you already know. this is used to keep your opponent guessing. a word of caution though, if you are VERY PREDICTABLE, then this will be your downfall. players can easily pick up your pattern and punish you. a very good baek player will keep you occupied with kicks and will keep you guessing where to block.
  • there are moves that require multiple joystick motions. like kazuya's wind god fist, etc.

there are three types of fighting styles. the turtle, the pitbull and the balanced type.

turtle- well, this player plays a very defensive game. duh, thats why they are called turtles. they seldom attack and normally counter and block most of your moves. beware though, too much turtling can result in grabbing or guessing.

pros: defense is the best offense.

cons: can keep you guessing where to block, strike, or counter.

pitbull- again, analyze the name. it is the complete opposite of the turtle. the pitbull goes for offense. they rush up to the opponent and does not let the opponent have time to pick their nose or scratch their ass. but be warned, too much pitbulling is close to suicidal.

pros: can make your opponents life hell. the opponent will have a hard time landing an attack.

cons: your offense can be turned against you.

balanced type- from the word itself, this type of player can balance his offensive skills and also his defense skills.

pros: none

cons: none

now, here are some of the characters that i normally use or characters that i am really good at.

lili: uf+3, b+2-1, 1-2, 2-1+2
christie: d+3+4, 3~4,2,1~4,2, f+3.
law: while rising+2, 4-f+3, FF+2-1-3
king: u+4, df+2-1, db+2+4, 2-1-3-4,
hwoarang: b+3, 2~4-2, f+3, uf+3-4-3
baek: b+3, f+1-2~3, f+1-2~3, f+1-2~3, f+1+2-4
marduk: DF+3-1, 1, df+3-1, FF+1+2
bryan: fB+2, f+1+2, 1, 3-2-1-2
kazuya: f,n,f+2, 1, 1~2, f,n,f+3~1
lee: uf+4, 1-2~f, 1-2~f, 1-2~f, 3~4

back in business! :D

i have not counted the weeks since i have last written something here in this amazing blog of mine, although i am pretty sure that it has been a very, very long time. there are a lot of things i would like to share to you about my absence in writing to this magnificent blog. and dont worry, i will elaborate greatly on these things. so, you'll need popcorn, reading glasses, a hard-ass and read away..

so, first i stopped blogging for a little while because you know.. school. i didnt have my own personal computer at my command. and i cant keep on borrowing my mom's computer everynight because she studies. so i couldnt go online for days at a time.

and then i got lazy.. i forgot how much fun i had when i had shit to write about. whenever i try to write some shit, i write a paragraph or two and stop write there.. hopefully i can abolish this lazy habit.

i virtually ran out of shit to write about. ohh noo! this cant be happening! i cant run out of shit, i just cant! sadly, i did ran out of shit. although i thought oer a lot of shit to write about, i didnt think the other shit would be good enough. so hopefully my brain can think of more shit to write about. :D

just when all hope seemed lost, YEHEY! mom bought a new kickass HP computer. it can only mean on thing. the old computer will be goin to me. hahahaha. but amidst all the excitement, i couldnt use the computer yet because its busted. so they had to repair it and viola! i now have my very own computer :D a slow and suckish computer but atleast i have one :D

so i was busy with stuff at school and swimming... but then i really need to study. even though for about 20 mins or 30 mins per subject.

new GOAL: study a subject when needed for about 20-30 minutes or soo.

so after accomplishing that goal and getting the hang of it... atleast try to do some assignments AT HOME.

so.... i had the flu, which i contracted from my classmates. it was like hell. no, not the swine flu. well, atleast i think not. a ton of students from xavier university high school had contracted a common disease and now they are absent. hopefully with God's almighty and divine grace, i can resume my studies and do the hardest part a student does when he or she is absent from classes; catching up. yes, that is the down side of being absent. the longer the absence, the harder to catch up.

so now, this blog is totally back in business :D
