if you are an average, ordinary laagan, then you are not surprised of your surroundings, for it is not uncommon that you see them. for instance, there is no surprise that we, filipinos, or should i say, the average filipino, are very terrible drivers.
not surprised eh? me too. as you can see, the traffic here is terrible. including here in the city of golden friendship, cagayan de oro. the culprit here is all of us who know how to drive, but the main reason is the jeepney's. there are a thousand jeepneys here and each wanting their own road.
again, if you are a kagayanon, then you know this well. jeepney drivers as well as other PUV drivers are terrible. greedy little buggers they are. like most things here in cagayan de oro, driving is a skill and a necessity among the people. it is almost a way of life, for most of the people are service drivers here.
again, like most of the things here in cagayan de oro, driving is a skill wherein it is passed along generations and generations of families, and within families. from father to son, from friend to friend, driving is passed along in the hope and effort that he may take up the responsibilities given to him by his previous predecessor.
and then comes the life in which some unlucky souls dare to venture, a life wherein it is frowned upon most communities. like driving, STEALING is also an essential way to make ends meet. although there are other safe, more fruitful ways to earn a living, stealing has a high risk, high reward tendency that makes people tempted.
this usually happens at night, but they can strike in broad daylight. but its not just the snatchers who are an issue, but also the prostitutes! yes, they are everywhere. cheap, affordable and easy to get, you better get your hopes up on the price but not so much on the beauty part. hahaha. i only have 3 words about prostitutes to sum it all up.
QUANTITY OVER QUALITY...
yes, its true. for those of you who dont understand, it is self explanatory. :D so which moves us to the place where everybody is, the streets. yes, you can see a lot of things in the street, non to pleasant though.. people of ALL ages and gender tend to smoke everywhere. yes, all ages. im not going to mention people or schools. here and there you can see it everywhere.
then there's the rugby boys. i am simply overwhelmed at the thought of seeing them kids in the streets, completely oblivious to the world. you may think its funny when seeing them, but it is a very sad thing. i saw countless times children, roughly at the aged of three, sniffing rugby on a plastic thing.
it is just life, as usual.
then comes the place where people come to chillax. jokingly, people say that gaston park is the place where yaya's and yayo's dating takes place. hahaha. for people in downtown, they tend to go to limketkai. and for people in the uptown, however, go to sm.
not so long ago, limketkai was just a usual place. it was the only one where people laag. and then came sm, which grealty reduced the number of visitors in all other malls. but limketkai wasnt ready to give up just yet. years later it became what it is today, a very awesome place far beyond the standards of sm. the place is simply superb. if you dont know what im talking about, then im going to make a photo post about that. hahaha.
so that concludes everything i tried to tell you about cagayan the oro, minus the boring parts. hahaha. so stay tune next time guys! bye.. :D
